Vaillant System Boiler Installation in Ipswich

The Brief

A four-bedroom family home on the edge of Ipswich was outgrowing its old combi boiler. With two teenagers in the house, the family often had two showers running while a bath was filling, and the combi simply could not keep up. Flow would drop, temperatures would swing, and someone always ended up cold. The boiler itself was eleven years old and starting to lock out more often. The family had seen Joby Howe fit a system at a neighbour's house and asked him to take a look. Rather than push them into a bigger combi, Joby ran the numbers on their actual hot-water demand and recommended a Vaillant system boiler paired with a properly sized unvented cylinder.

What We Did

The installation ran across three days:

• Stripped out the old combi: The tired eleven-year-old boiler came off the wall and the gas, water and condensate pipework was re-routed cleanly to suit the new layout.
• Fitted the Vaillant ecoTEC plus 30: The new system boiler went into the utility room with proper service clearances and a fresh flue run.
• Installed a 250 L unvented Megaflo cylinder: Sited in the airing cupboard with the right discharge pipework and tundish, sized for two showers and a bath at the same time.
• Added a magnetic system filter and new fill loop: Protects the new boiler from any system muck and makes annual servicing straightforward.
• Upgraded three undersized radiators: Two bedrooms and the kitchen were running cold corners, so we swapped them for properly sized panels to match the new output.
• Power-flushed the full system: Cleared years of sludge before commissioning so the new kit starts life on clean water.
• Commissioned to Vaillant spec: Benchmark certificate completed, ten-year manufacturer warranty registered, and the family walked through the controls.

The whole job took three working days. The family kept hot water on every evening and only lost it for one morning during the cylinder change-over.

The Result

Two showers and a bath can now run at the same time without any drop in flow or temperature. Heat is even right across the house, including the rooms that used to feel chilly in winter, and the boiler is sitting in its comfort zone rather than working flat out. The household has gone from cold mornings and constant lock-outs to hot water on demand, exactly as a family home of that size should be.

The Vaillant ecoTEC plus is registered for a full ten-year manufacturer warranty, and the family are now on the Howe Heating annual service rota so the system stays in warranty and runs efficiently for the long term.
